Another Pair of Curved York Benches for Greenwich Park
Posted on May 07, 2026
There’s something satisfying about seeing a project come back around for a second time.
These newly completed curved York benches are the second pair we’ve produced for Greenwich Park, and they’ll shortly be making their way from our East Yorkshire workshop down to one of London’s most historic green spaces.
The photographs show a little more of the process behind the finished benches — the curved frames carefully clamped into position during assembly, followed by the completed benches lined up in the workshop awaiting transport. Creating curved seating on this scale takes far more than simply adapting a straight bench design. Every component has to work together through the curve, from the sweeping back rails right through to the seat slats and supporting framework.

What we particularly like about these benches is that the curve changes how people use the space around them. Rather than facing rigidly forward, curved seating naturally encourages conversation, gathering and a more relaxed interaction with the landscape. In a public park setting, that softer geometry can make a surprising difference.
The York bench design itself remains one of our most requested styles because of its balance between durability and understated appearance. Even in curved form, it still retains the same solid proportions and traditional detailing that allow it to sit comfortably in both historic and contemporary settings.
Greenwich Park is one of London’s Royal Parks and one of the city’s most visited open spaces, with sweeping views across the capital, historic architecture and thousands of daily visitors throughout the year. Knowing these benches will become part of that environment gives the project an added sense of permanence and purpose.
With the second pair now completed, they’ll soon be leaving the workshop and heading south for installation in Greenwich Park over the coming week.
