Introducing the Rosedale Curved Bench: A New Addition to Woodcraft's Collection
Posted on September 15, 2025
Woodcraft proudly announces the arrival of a newly designed curved bench that represents a notable milestone for us. While we have a long history of crafting bespoke curved benches, a lot of our custom orders are adaptations of our existing straight bench designs, such as the York standard bench lending it's design perfectly to a curved version and also the Scarborough straight bench becoming the Scarborough Crescent curved bench.
This bench, however, is unique in that it reverses the process. Starting out as a bespoke curved bench, we think it's design allows for a potential adaptation into a standard straight bench model. We have decided to name it The Rosedale Bench Range.

The Rosedale bench showcases a distinctive design. While the armrests may look familiar coming from the popular York bench, the backrest, however, is entirely new, featuring a composition of three elegantly curved slats. These slats are topped with a futher horizontal finishing slat, contributing to the bench's overall visual harmony and structural integrity.

"Rosedale" a fitting name for a unique bench.
Keeping with convention, we have named the bench after another iconic location in Yorkshire. Rosedale, a valley nestled centrally within the North York Moors National Park in North Yorkshire, England, presents a captivating landscape.

Situated approximately seven miles north of Kirkbymoorside, the valley is encircled by expansive moorland. At its southern extremity, Rosedale is framed by Spaunton Moor and Hartoft Rigg. Here, the River Seven meanders through woodland, passing Cropton and reaching the Vale of Pickering and provides a perfect picturesque landscape for anglers and ramblers as well as extensive camping facilities serviced by a local store and more than a handful of cosy pubs.
We hope the Rosedale bench will feel at home with it's siblings, The York, The Beverley, The Scarborough, The Driffield and many more bench ranges we produce.
The Rosedale bench's design is intended to be versatile as we plan to adapt the curved design into a straight bench configuration, expanding our standard range. This approach allows us to offer customers a wider variety of seating options, catering to diverse needs and preferences. And we think this new bench offers customers a style option that is designed to complement the most elegant gardens and patio settings enhancing the visual appeal of their outdoor spaces.

Here's a video of the bench in our workshop before it was delivered to the customer.
This first design of the new Rosedale bench was built in sections allowing for the possibility of adding outer curved as well as straight benches to complete a perimeter bench for parks, bowling greens and duck ponds. A large curved version can also be built as one solid piece in the same way as our other curved benches.
