Bespoke Wooden Obelisks for a Garden in Wetherby

Posted on November 18, 2025

We recently completed a pair of bespoke garden obelisks for a private customer in Wetherby, and we were able to capture a few construction shots along the way. Every component was made specifically for this project, crafted with precision so that each joint meets cleanly and accurately to the millimetre.

Our customer chose to keep the natural wood finish, which brings out the grain and gives the obelisks a grounded, organic character. For anyone considering something similar, powder coating is also an option. It not only offers a wide choice of colours but adds another layer of protection against the elements. That said, these obelisks are light enough to move under cover during the winter months if you prefer to keep them out of the weather altogether.

Here is a picture of powder coated obelisks.

Garden obelisks can play several roles in a planting scheme. Used as a standalone feature, they bring height and structure to a bed, or they can be part of a larger composition alongside pergolas or gazebos. Either way, they create a striking framework for climbing plants.

Once the obelisks arrived in Wetherby, we received a message from the customer that we were especially pleased to read:

“Hi Mike,
Just wanted to let you know the obelisks arrived safely and look amazing, thank you. I only got back late last night so haven't unwrapped the finials yet—but really impressed by the workmanship and finish, so thanks very much.

Will send you some photos once they're installed—and perhaps some more in the summer when the roses are hopefully flowering!

(Simon in Wetherby)”

Feedback like this is always appreciated, and we’re looking forward to seeing the obelisks in place once the garden begins to fill out.
